today i am a big baby. i'll just sing some magnetic fields lyrics in my head per usual. i cry because it looks so good / i cry, why not, it's free / and there's nothing more interesting / then crying constantly

this weekend's theme = driving in the all-too-rare sunshine with the windows down and the music on. saturday i recordshopped w/j. and checked out downlow for the first time. they didn't have much that i was into, but i did find a kenny larkin remix. we drove around in his sweet sweet convertible, listening to death in vegas & searching for a rumored van that drives around a record and plays sound out of a wee speaker. apparently it's called the 'vinyl killer' and there's a whole hiphop track dedicated to it:

later that night, lance de sardi + j.t. donaldson @ chop suey was only ok, but my front left speaker dancefloor spot was available. sunday's driving sounds were black dog 'temple of transparent balls' & eat static. p. & i visited his music studio. he's surrounded by some local jungle djs, nitsuj & zacharia.. and flave on the other side. we got lost in ikea. i needed a new closet because i cannot find my floor anymore. i have 25 jackets & over 30 pairs of shoes. i swear i'm not an aspiring imelda marcos... i just have problems. i thought i might die before the closet was completed. we had no drill, but we prevailed.



sunday night @ flammable. there's an infamous local househead who goes by pappa tomato. he kicks his foot up like a go-go dancer until it reaches the level of his head and does half-backflips. he's also known for running up on stage and screaming "COME ON SEATTLE!". it was his dj debut, so i tried to recruit people to run up and scream his catchphrase. i didn't have much success.

erlend oye comprises 1/2 of kings of convenience. i'm really enjoying his dj kicks mix. he sings overtop of it! soooo cute.

i am even entertained by the avenue d track. "don't pass out going down on me / or i'll wake you up with a mouth full of pee"

it's hard to believe that in only 9 days i'll be 1/4 of a century old. i'm going through a stereotypical midlife crisis.. who am i? where am i going? i don't know what to do for my birthday.. originally i was thinking about throwing a party, but the idea of cleaning my house and organizing something feels beyond me.

listening to UR via dj hell.. so apropros.
