i tried to do the 365 days project on flickr for awhile. the idea is that you take a picture of yourself every day. it was interesting but i had a terrible time keeping up with it. i'm too vain and having a slew of mediocre pictures floating around just for the sake of photographing myself started to disturb me. also, i felt too much of a commitment to make them interesting, and if i wasn't feeling inspired or creative that day i couldn't motivate myself to take a picture i thought might be bland.
i really like the idea of documenting seemingly-trivial day to day life, though. (as evidenced by my use of livejournal, i s'pose.) so i've decided to try
busterbenson's 8:36 pm project. the idea is to document what you're doing at 8:36pm and send it to an 8:36 twitter tag or an 8:36 flickr tag (or both).
i'm debating whether i should make a second twitter account for this, though. i'm conscious of the limited number of text messages some people have. i only average maybe 1 post a day on my current twitter account (though it's usually more like one day with a bunch of posts, several with none.) the posts are a mixture of mundane "here's what i'm doing" with things that people might find useful/interesting/funny. but it seems likely that at least 50% of the 8:36pm posts will be mundane, and i don't want to annoy the crap out of my friendslist. on the other hand, they're already putting up with my often-mundane crap and they could always just switch me to web-only. hmm

honestly, I think that this 8:36 pm project/experiment is getting people closer to twitter's original intent (i.e., answering the question "what are you doing?" and letting your friends know about it.) The 8:36 pm posts on my list are always my favorites.
