does anyone out there have a handheld impact wrench with either #2 or #3 philips socket that could be borrowed for a brief period this weekend? i'd feed you or find another way to repay you, and you could be physically present during the whole time of its use if you wanted =)

alternatively i'll have to research the cheapest place to rent it, so if anyone knows about that, that'd be helpful too.

What exactly is it needed for? That tool description doesn't really make sense, and I've used just about every automobile mechanic tool there is.

It sounds like an "airgun". I have used all kinds of tools too but not that one. I don't have an air compressor.

Eastside rentals, http://www.eastsiderental.com , has them for about $20 I think. Alternatively one could call pawn shops and just buy it.

There are a couple reasons why I would use one- removing difficult/impacted nuts/bolts, or speed. But I would only use it on tires for speed. It's easy to mangle/destroy threads with an airgun. I'd rather use a breaker bar. It's cheaper.

The specific use in this case is for removing the exceedingly malleable philips-head screws holding on the brake rotors. I tried using a hammer-impact with no luck. I'm specifically looking for a handheld electric impact... unless someone is willing to lug around a compressor. : )

I'll check eastside rental though... thanks for the tips/responses!
